MUHARRAM 1427 REPORT : Electronic Media is the in thing today. Followers of different faiths in all parts of the world have introduced innovative Radio and TV programmes to convey the message of their respective faiths. The need for harnessing such modern technology to convey the message of Islam in keeping with the teachings of Ahlul Bayt cannot be overemphasised.
On February 6th 2006, Msiba Wa Karbala (Tragedy of Karbala), a Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya Radio Production, hit the airwaves on KBC Pwani FM 103.0 FM Radio Station.
This project was undertaken jointly by Ithna Asheri Young Men’s Union, Mombasa and Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya as part of Azadari of Sayyidu Shuhada Imam Husayn (a.s) during Ayyame Aza of Muharram and Safar. Msiba Wa Karbala is a special thirteen part series programme. The first 8 parts were broadcast from February 6th – 13th, 2006. On Ashura night, a unique programme was broadcast across the Nation on KBC Kiswahili Radio Service. The second section of the programme – A five part series was broadcast from 17th – 21st March 2006. The Series aimed at educating our listeners about the Ahlul Bayt, Imam Husayn (a.s), the Tragedy of Karbala and its historical background. In addition to recital of Ahadith, Marsiyas in Kiswahili and Matam, highly informative talks were delivered by Sheikh Abdillahi Nassir, Seyyid Aidarus Mzee Mwenye and Ustadh Muhammad Dumila. - We were excited to hear such a programme...suggest such programmes are held regularly The overwhelming response received from listeners by way of letters, telephone, SMS and personal contact has encouraged us to undertake Radio Programs as an essential additional medium for tableegh outreach. |
