The Rural Centres of Dembwa and Mwasafu are located in Taita Taveta District, Mwatate Division, in the Coast Province. 

Facilities in both Centers :

Masjid:

Pre-Primary school. • A 2 year Programme. • Two Classrooms used for Madrasah/Pre-primary. • Apart from Nursery Curriculum, Religious education taught in the Nursery schools.        Madrasah *  Classes include Fasl Tamheed, Awwal, Thani, Thalith and Rabiu. *  Subjects taught : Quran, Fiqh, Tarikh, Akhlaq, Aqaid and Arabic. *  Madrasah classes for ladies of the Community in the afternoons.

Sketch and specifications of works for proposed new Masjid

• 
  To erect a Masjid on r.c frame structure covering 140.50 sq mtrs and comprising of a congregation prayer hall, a common verandah, ablution areas for both ladies and gents and paving around the building:-
• 
  All Column base pits shall be not less than 1000 mm deep, and strip foundation not less than 600 mm deep.
• 
  Pit Excavation for toilet shall be and not less than 7.5 mtrs deep for both public.
• 
  Allow for approved ant-termite treatment below all foundations and floor slabs.
• 
  Shutters for and cast all reinforced concrete floor slabs, column, beams, lintols, gutters etc.
• 
  To the areas of the ground floor lay 4’ thick concrete slab with fibremesh.
• 
  Vents are to be laid in cement sand (1:3) mortar and are to be recessed 25 mm from the plastered wall in wall.
• 
  Lay double quarry tiles sill to all windows.
• 
  All masonry to substructure of to be in 8” solid machine cut coral stones block walling.
• 
  To lay pre-cast concrete paving slabs 600 mm wide around all the building structures on a sand plinth. All internal plaster to be in 1 coat cement sand(1:4)mortar plaster and finished in steel float finish. External render is to be in 1 coat cement sand(1: 4) mortar and finished with a wood float.
• 
  Lay Saj ceramic floor tiles, floor finish and skirting to the entire ablution area on cement screed and colour wall tiles up to 1.5 metres high with joints filled with coloured grout. Lay to all the floors, cement sand 1: 4 mix, red cement floor screed floor finish and 4” skirting and 6mm thick to the verandah and congregation prayer halls.
• 
  Lay pre-cast concrete coping on top of the PCC vents and walls.
• 
  To fix PCC crenellation above wall to the roof and along the side wall of the r.c gutter.
• 
  All doors and windows are to be made in well-seasoned Mvule. The window frame will have PVC coated burglarproof bars. The finished door and window will include all the necessary ironmongery, fasteners and stays, stoppers, aldrops.
• 
  To install 1200x1200 mm pin board in timber framing.
• 
  Supply and fix on site IT5 prepainted “green” DUMU roofing sheets fixed to treated 3”x2” timber purlins, timber rafters and Steel trusses.
• 
  Provide rainwater collecting r.c gutter and down pipes to feed to water storage tanks on raised masonry plinth. Provide and fix 3No. 4000 litres ‘Kentainer’ water storage tank to collect water from the R.C gutter and from direct water supply.
• 
  All the sanitary brassware will be in BRICON cobra star elsewhere.
• 
  To provide and fixing cast iron manhole covers to all MH, septic tank and soak pit.
  Provide channels at the ablution area to drain to gulley traps.
• 
  All surfaces of plastered wall to be applied undercoat and 2 coats of cover matt emulsion paint internally. To all areas externally apply undercoat and 2 coats of permaplast (weather guard) paint.
  Timber which is to be painted is to receive one coat of primer, two coats of undercoating and two finishing coats of approved enamel paint . Timber which is to be polished is to receive two applications varnish.

  Supply and install electricity, fittings and amplifier. To provide inbuilt open shelve cabinet, mimber and mats.

Duration of completion of work ………………          6 months

  All the roofing timber is to be well seasoned and treated Cypress or any other approved to sizes.
  Provide rainwater collecting GI gutter and down pipes to feed to water storage tanks on raised masonry plinth.
• 
  All the sanitary brassware will be of BRICON cobra star elsewhere.
• 
  Provide and fix 2No. 4000 litres ‘Kentainer’ water storage tank .Placed to either side of the classroom to harvest rain water.
• 
  All surfaces of plastered wall to be applied undercoat and 2 coats of cover matt emulsion paint.
  Timber which is to be painted is to receive one coat of primer, two coats of undercoating and two finishing coats.
• 
  To provide desks and teachers tables and chairs.

  All surfaces of plastered wall to be applied undercoat and 2 coats of cover matt emulsion paint .
• 
  Timber which is to be painted is to receive one coat of primer, two coats of undercoating and two finishing coats.
• 
  To fix 1.8 metre high galvanized chainlink fence on concrete posts.  Supply and install electricity and fittings.
