DISPATCH AND DIALOGUE AT THE ANNUAL  MOMBASA SHOW 2006

Once again Bilal Muslim  Mission of Kenya participated in the 2006 Mombasa National show held from 30th August to 2nd  September, 2006. This is an annual event organized by the Agricultural Society of Kenya.

Three undernamed Muballighin undertook Dispatch and Dialogue programme at the showground.
• Ibrahim Nyae
• Ali Mulu
• Ramadhan Chirunga

Dispatch and Dialogue Programme involves giving out literature on Islam free of charge to interested people visiting the show. It also invites the interested recipients in Dialogue on Islam and registration for free Islamic Correspondence Course.

The Pamphlets/Booklets dispatched were :
- Is there God? A Scientist Answers
- Biblia yakubaliana na swala ya Kiislamu
- Hijab: Vazi la heshima kwa wanawake wote.
- Assalamu alaykum.

Day 1. Wednesday 30th Aug. 06:

This was the first day of the show and normally the turn out is not very good. We arrived at the show at afternoon 2:36 pm. Despite the poor turnout we were able to dispatch 50 sets of the pamphlets.

Day 2:  Thursday 31st Aug. 06:

This being the official opening by the President a very good turn out was seen. Immediately after our arrival at the show ground at around 2:15 pm we started dispatching our pamphlets. Taking advantage of the day we were able to dispatch 75 pamphlets.

Day 3: Friday 1st September 2006:

When we arrived at the show ground at 2:10 pm. we found a lot of people we were therefore able to dispatch our pamphlets very well. A total number of 75 pamphlets were dispatched.

Day 4: Saturday 2nd September 2006:

This was our last day of our participation and being weekend where by a lot of people were expected, we left for the show in the morning at around 10:30 a.m. Yes, the show ground was thronged by a lot of people. It was very difficult even to get entrance to the show. Some notable students from various institutions were scrambling for the booklets. We were able to dispatch 225 sets of pamphlets.

Conclusion:

Some common topics discussed were :
- Is Islam the right religion
- Issues on women, terrorism
- References on prophet from the Bible.

Majority of those issued with the booklets / pamphlets were willing to take them despite a few who either ignored or were afraid of taking the booklets saying they were too many.
The activity we were undertaking was a success with each new day. We therefore recommend that the Mission continue supporting such programmes since they are a form of tableegh besides marketing Islam as a religion”. (Ramadhan Chirunga.)

The way we continued participating to the programme, the same way our tableegh work became better. Christians had a big stand where by apart from selling literatures it also acted as a worshipping place. (Ibrahim Nyae).

I do request if possible for next show the pamphlets or booklets be made or compiled into a single paper for easy carrying because some people were refusing to take many papers.  Some people would refuse to take the pamphlets but only after some explanation they would then receive them. (Ali Mulu)
