The Mission commemorated the month of mourning for muslims with sorrow. Majalis were organised at all our 14 centres in the rural areas and in Mombasa at the Bilal hall. Program at rural centres Majalis at the rural centres were conducted for the first nine days of the Holy Month. This year, women were very active participants especially in the afternoon sessions conducted by the madrasah muballighats. In the evening, people congregated for recitation of Marsiyas, Nouhas and Utenzis, followed by Magribain prayers and the daily night Majlis. Faithful also congregated to listen to our Muharram Broadcasts where radios were available. Ashura. |  |
 | On Ashura day, all 14 centres held a Julus procession, walking barefoot for 2-3 Km before converging back at the masjids. Aamals of Ashura were held before commencing of Ashura Majlis, with Sabil-e-Husayn and Niyaz provided at each centre. |
Program at BMMK Hall To mark the month when the beloved grandson of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w) was martyred, nine majalis were held at Bilal hall, following maghribain salaah. Noted orator from Lamu, Sharif Aidarus Mzee Mwenye, started the schedule of Majalis. |  |
| Other experienced speakers included Sheikh Abdillahi Nassir, Ustadh Dumila and Ustadh Athman Swabir. On the night of Ashura the attendants joined in the procession (julus), organised by IYMU and later attended Majlis at the Hydery Masjid. |
Radio Programs This year, broadcasts consisted of a 5 part series- Msiba Wa Kerbala, aired on KBC Pwani FM, and featuring a host of well versed speakers. The status of Imam Husayn in relation to Hadith of Thaqalayn, Tragedy of Karbala and lessons from this great sacrifice were narrated. Sheikh Abdillahi Nassir delivered a final broadcast on KBC National Radio - Why we commemorate the tragedy of Kerbala, marking the end of the Muharram Broadcasts.
