Celebrations to commemorate the two very significant events in the history of Islam took place at Bilal Hall on December 12, 2009. These events received a big crowd of people from different communities.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mulla Sajjad, followed by the recitation of a beautiful Qasida by the students of Madrasah Amir ul Mumineen, Matuga. Gracing this occasion was a prominent orator from the Lamu Coast, Shariff Aidarus Mzee Mwenye, who delivered an address regarding selection of the successor of Holy Prophet (saww) that profoundly awakened members of the audience He elaborated on the approach of selection of the Holy Prophets and Imams. He further provided relevant proofs that these were only appointed by Allah, while consultation (shura), has never been utilized for succession. Sheikh mentioned that during the Holy Prophet (saww)’s life, he indicated at several instances who would his successor be. Eid- E- Mubahila was one of these instances. Using apt examples from everyday life and suitable anecdotes, he managed to capture the audience’s attention for well over an hour.

At the close of the program, Brother Iddy Kumbukumbu delivered the vote of thanks, which was followed by dua and ziyarah, by Ustadh Uthman Swabir and Brother Abdulrazaq Abdillahi Nassir, respectively. “But whoever disputes with you (0' Muhammad) in this matter after what has come to you of knowledge, then say: Come let us call our sons and your sons and our women and your women and our selves and yourselves, then let us beseech Allah and invoke His curse upon the liars.” Holy Qur'an (3:6 1) January 2010 |
