Famine Relief - Update March 2009 |

| The positive support received from Mumineen all over has enabled Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya to continue distribution of food relief to the families affected by famine in the villages in Rural Centres. In response to the Famine Appeal, Seniors/Wazee of the K.S.I.Jamaat, Mombasa raised funds for the distribution of food relief. 24,820 kgs of food such as Maize, beans, sugar, rice and salt was distributed to 1143 families in 4 villages in the Rural Centres. The members of the group actively devoted time to visit the villages on 1st and 21st March, 2009 and distributing the food items. |

CAN AID Africa, International Humanitarian Organisation contributed towards purchase of 5760 kgs of maize. This was distributed to 327 families in 2 villages in the Rural Centres. | Todate, the Mission has distributed 61,650 kgs of relief food to 2,651 families in 12 villages in the Rural areas.
