WAFATUN NABIY SEMINAR

“O ye who believe Obey God and obey the Apostle and those charged with authority among you. If you differ in anything among yourselves refer it to God and His Apostle if Ye do believe in God and the last Day...” Qur’an 4:59

The above verse of the Holy Quran gives the clear objectives of the Wafatunnabiy seminar held at Kichakamkwaju village in Shimoni sub- Location on Saturday 8th March, 2008.

This seminar is the third consecutive seminar of its kind to be held at this centre annually. Its main aim is to invite imams of Masjids and Madrassa teachers from different muslim sects to discuss comparative Islamic issues, Specifically the anti- Shia allegations hence promoting dialogue. The first seminar of this nature to be held at this venue was in the year 2006.

This year’s Wafatun Nabiy seminar was held at Madrasa Ahlul- Kisaa Kichakamkwaju on Saturday 8th March 2008. The seminar was attended by more than 40 men, 60 women and 100 children from the vicinity of the area. The 40 men included 20 Imams and Madrasa Muallims from Shimoni, Mkwiro, Wasini, Kibuyuni and Fikirini in Pongwe/ Kidimu Location.

There were three main speeches. In his speech Ustadh Juma Ndzala mentioned the historical events that took place before and after the death of holy Prophet. The second lecture delivered by Ustadh Twamim Salim elaborated on the anti Shia allegations against Shiaism. This was followed by a lively Question/ Answer session.

After salat and lunch Ustadh Muhammad Ali Hiribae presented his third lecture. He stressed on justification and importance of having special occasions  to observe wafat of the Holy prophet (s.a.w.w.) in addition to the traditional miladunnabiy gatherings.
The seminar contents were so much touching that one of the attendants from Wasini island requested if such a function would be held in Wasini. Wasini is one of the areas where Wahabi ideology is prevalent. The seminar ended at 1430hrs with comments (ta’liq) and du’a by Sheikh Ramadhani Ngwame of Bilal Muslim Mission.

It was proposed to have Miladunnabiy seminar at Wasini as the milad function is more common.
