Distribution to Changamwe and Kisauni areas

The Kenya Red Cross Society in conjuction with Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya carried out distribution of basic necessities to families and individuals affected by the post poll violence in Changamwe and Kisauni areas on 30th and 31st January, 2008.

Most families in these areas are displaced, their businesses and belongings looted, leaving some homeless after rowdy youth burnt their houses. This has led to victims camping in Police Stations, Churches and Social Halls for protection.

It is these internally displaced people that the Kenya Red Cross Society targeted for the humanitarian assistance. Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya like other well wishers and Charitable Organizations donated and participated in the distribution of Maize flour, cooking oil and clothing. The distribution was graced by Kenya Red Cross officials, BMMK officials, the District Officer, Chief and Security Officers.

comment from one of the donor overseas:

"I saw Bilal reports and was happy to note the good work done in connection with the food distribution through Red Cross. That was a very sensible and noble move that will go a long way to show the local communities, the Government and even the international NGOs etc that we as a Muslim Tabligh organization are not narrow minded but have a broad humanitarian approach, a sense of love and compassion for the suffering humanity and that we do not discriminate against any one in times of need.

This will help project not only BMMK in better light but also by extension, help project our Community and more so the Shia faith in much better light".

Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya once again takes this opportunity to convey heartfelt appreciations to all the donors for their worthy donations in cash or kind.  We pray to the Almighty Allah (swt) to shower His choicest blessings of prosperity, good health and long life to all who contributed towards this worthy cause.
